While many triathletes go the
course venue for a triathlon camp, I went
to my favorite place to cycle, Black Earth Wisconsin. Our friends
Kurt
and Diane Ehling have a place up there. In any direction there
is 1000
feet of elevation change for every 10 miles of riding. The
roads have
almost no traffic on them.
My schedule for this memorial weekend
was
as
follows:
Saturday:
Cycled 90.8 miles and averaged 15 mph. Probably
did 11,000
feet of climbing.
Sunday:
Ran 10 miles, half of it with Marion. Then I cycled
50 miles
and averaged 14.7 mph. I probably did about 5500 feet of
climbing. I
then called my coach because I was mentally spent. He suggested
that I
do the 60 miles of riding but don't do some much hill climbing.
Monday:
Rode 60 miles with the last 26 with Marion. I averaged
15.6
mph in the 34 miles I rode myself. I probably did 3500 feet
of
climbing.
Overall if I probably did 20,000 feet of climbing.
Overall great triathlon camp workout. I plan to go up to
Black Earth
one
more time before Ironman Lake Placid July 20th.
